Olivie Plus 30x: The Lab Report Behind the Multiple

Olivie Plus 30x is a Moroccan organic extra virgin olive oil sold on a number: thirty times the polyphenols of ordinary olive oil. That is an unusually specific promise for this category, and unlike most brands making one, Olivie publishes a third-party test report you can open and read. We did read it, line by line, and this article is what it says — what the thirty-fold multiple is a multiple of, which figure it is measured against, and which parts of the report the laboratory itself flags. If you want to know whether the number is real before you buy, the answer is more interesting than either yes or no.

The Short Answer
- The multiple is a hydroxytyrosol multiple, not a total-polyphenol one. Olivie states 233 mg/kg of hydroxytyrosol on average against 7 mg/kg for a regular extra virgin olive oil. That ratio, rounded, is the 30x.
- They publish a real test report, and very few competitors do. Report No. 2417272 names the lot, the sampling and analysis dates, and the method — the International Olive Council's COI/T.20/Doc. No 29/Rev. 2.
- On that lot, total polyphenols came back at 1,633 mg/kg, expressed as tyrosol. That is a high figure by any standard and we are not going to talk it down.
- The denominator is the part nobody attributes. The 7 mg/kg baseline for "a regular extra virgin olive oil" is stated on the brand's own page without a source, and the size of any multiple depends entirely on it.
- The report flags its own limits. Most of the individual compound rows, including hydroxytyrosol, are marked as not accredited by ACCREDIA, and the sample was supplied by the customer rather than drawn independently.
- Total polyphenols and individual compounds are different numbers. The same report gives oleocanthal at 7 mg/kg — a reminder that a large aggregate says nothing about any one compound inside it.
- We publish no figure at all. If a published, lot-referenced polyphenol result is what you are shopping for, Olivie has one and we do not.
Who Makes Olivie Plus 30x — and Our Interest in Telling You
We should say the obvious thing first. Sidr & Stone sells a Moroccan olive oil, so this is a review written by a competitor. We have handled that by sticking to what Olivie publishes on olivie.ma and in the documents it links, by quoting rather than paraphrasing where the wording matters, and by being specific about the rows where we lose.
Olivie Plus 30x is made by Olivie Pharma, described on its own site as a department of Atlas Olive Oils sarl, based at 110 Boulevard Yaacoub El Mansour in Casablanca. Atlas is a fourth-generation family business — the Aqallal family, producing since 1887 by the company's own account — farming around 1,000 hectares in the dry areas of Morocco. The estate behind the polyphenol argument is El Borouj, 153 hectares on a rocky phosphate plateau roughly 150 km from Casablanca towards Marrakech. Olivie's pages also make a range of health claims for the oil and cite clinical studies conducted with named universities. We do not reproduce any of them here, and nothing in this article should be read as repeating or endorsing them. Readers who want to assess that material should read it at source and judge it themselves.

What the "30x" Is a Multiple Of
A multiple is a fraction, and a fraction needs two numbers. Olivie is clear about which compound the top one refers to, and it is worth reading carefully because most coverage of this product is not.
The brand's product page states that, "Specifically for Hydroxytyrosol, the King of Polyphenols, 3rd Party Independent Laboratory Analysis shows OLIVIE Plus 30x contains on average 233 mg/kg of hydroxytyrosol, compared to only 7 mg/kg of Hydroxytyrosol on average for a regular Extra Virgin Olive Oils." Separately it gives total polyphenols as about 1,250 mg/kg against 253 mg/kg for a regular extra virgin oil.
So the headline multiple is a hydroxytyrosol multiple. It is not a claim about total polyphenols, where the same two figures would give roughly five times rather than thirty. That distinction matters, because a shopper who reads "thirty times the polyphenols" and pictures a total-polyphenol figure thirty times the norm has understood something the brand did not quite say. On the brand's own numbers, 233 divided by 7 is closer to thirty-three; thirty is a rounding down, not up.

The Test Report, Line by Line
The report linked from the product page is Test Report No. 2417272, issued to Atlas Olive Oils sarl. The sample is described as OLIVIE PLUS 30X Organic Extra Virgin Olive Oil, lot 0624CH/250, produced June 2024. It was received on 14 June 2024, analysis began on 20 June, and the report is dated 1 July 2024 at Monopoli. The biophenol determinations were run by method COI/T.20/Doc. No 29/Rev. 2 2022 — the International Olive Council's official HPLC method — with one figure by an internal HPLC method.
That is four of the things a certificate needs: a report number, a lot reference, dates, and a named method. It is more than most producers in this category publish, and we would rather credit it plainly than damn it with qualifications.

Two things stand out. The first is that the report carries a note of its own: the sum of hydroxytyrosol, oleuropein aglycone and hydroxytyrosol acetate comes to 361 mg/kg, which it labels total hydroxytyrosol. The second is oleocanthal at 7 mg/kg. An oil sold on a polyphenol multiple can be very low in one of the compounds the category talks about most — which is exactly why compound-level reporting is more useful than an aggregate, and to Olivie's credit they publish both.

The Denominator, and What Is Not Attributed
Here is the honest gap, and it is not a gap in the laboratory work. It is in the comparison.
The numerator is measured, dated and traceable to a lot. The denominator — 7 mg/kg of hydroxytyrosol, and 253 mg/kg of total polyphenols, for "a regular Extra Virgin Olive Oil" — is stated on the brand's own page with no source, no sample size, no year and no method. Every multiple in this category rests on a denominator, and a multiple can be made larger or smaller by choosing a different one without touching the oil at all.
None of that makes the baseline wrong. Ordinary supermarket extra virgin oil genuinely is low in free hydroxytyrosol, and a single-figure result would not surprise anyone who has looked at the literature. But a reader is entitled to ask where a number came from, and the same four tests Olivie rightly applies to its own result — laboratory, date, method, sample — are not applied to the figure it is divided by.

What the Report Says About Itself
Certificates carry small print, and the small print on this one is worth reading before treating any single row as settled.
Most of the individual compound rows — hydroxytyrosol, tyrosol, both dialdehydic forms, the two aglycones, lignans and hydroxytyrosol acetate — carry an asterisk defined at the foot of the page as "TEST NOT ACCREDITED BY ACCREDIA". The total polyphenols row does not. In practice that means the aggregate figure sits inside the laboratory's accredited scope and the compound-by-compound breakdown, including the hydroxytyrosol that the multiple is built on, does not.
The report also records that the sampling procedure was "By the Customer", and states that its results "refer uniquely to the sample tested". The laboratory is identified by its address at Via Vecchia Ospedale 11, Monopoli, and by a Puglia registration number, and states that it operates in accordance with ISO/IEC 17025; the extracted text of the report does not carry the laboratory's trading name, so we are not going to print one.
None of this is unusual, and none of it is concealed — it is printed on the document the brand chose to publish. It is simply the difference between a result and a guarantee, and the same reading discipline applies to any certificate, as our guide to choosing a quality olive oil sets out.
Where Olivie Is Genuinely Ahead of Us
This is the section where we lose, and we would rather write it clearly than bury it at the bottom.
Olivie publishes a compound-level laboratory analysis with a lot number, dates and an International Olive Council method. We publish nothing, because our first harvest has not yet been analysed. They hold a stack of formal certifications listed for download on their company page — SGS ISO 22000, SGS HACCP, halal, kosher, EU, USDA, China and Korea organic, ECOCERT, IMANOR GMP and a carbon-neutral certificate. We hold halal certification and describe our oil as organically grown, which is not the same thing as certified. And they ship today; we are taking pre-orders.
If what you want is a Moroccan olive oil with a published, lot-referenced polyphenol figure attached to it, in the cupboard this week, buy theirs. That is not a difficult sentence to write, because it is true.

The Objections Worth Taking Seriously
"You are a competitor picking holes in a rival's certificate." Fair, and we would rather name it than have you notice it silently. The test is whether we credited the things that deserve credit, and we think the answer is yes: the report is real, the method is the right one, and it is published where anyone can read it, which puts Olivie ahead of most of the category and well ahead of us.
"The accreditation footnote is a technicality." It is a real distinction, but it is not an accusation. Laboratories routinely run tests outside their accredited scope, and printing which is which is a mark of a careful report rather than a careless one. It only matters here because the compound the whole multiple rests on happens to sit on the unaccredited side of the line.
"Does a bitter oil not tell you the same thing?" Olivie argues on its own site that taste is an unreliable guide and only a laboratory settles the question, and they are right about that. It is a good argument, honestly made, and it happens to be the argument that also explains why the denominator in their headline claim deserves the same scrutiny as the numerator.
One smaller note in the same spirit: among the downloadable certificates the company lists is one headed "USA FDA APPROVED". The Food and Drug Administration registers food facilities but does not approve foods, so we could not establish what that document covers, and we mention it only because this is an article about reading claims closely.

Is olive oil a medicine?
No. Olive oil is a food, not a medicine. It has a long traditional history — including being honoured in the Prophetic Sunnah — and a substantial body of modern research, particularly around polyphenols, cardiovascular health, and the Mediterranean diet pattern. It can be a worthwhile part of a healthy routine, but it does not cure diseases and is not a substitute for medical care. Be cautious of any olive oil marketed with specific disease-cure claims.
Final Thoughts
Most high-polyphenol marketing collapses the moment you ask for a document. Olivie's does not, and that deserves saying first: the report exists, it names a lot and a method, and the aggregate figure on it is genuinely high. Set against the rest of this category, that is a strong position and we would not want a reader to finish this article thinking otherwise.
What the report also shows is that a multiple is only ever half a measurement. The numerator here is traceable to a lot on a dated certificate. The denominator is a round number about "regular olive oil" that arrives with no laboratory, no method and no year attached — and every multiple in this category is built the same way. The fix is not to distrust the figure but to read past it to the compound-level rows, where the real information sits, and where a large aggregate and a small oleocanthal result can sit side by side on the same page.
